Geranium lucidum

  Geranium lucidum, commonly known as Shinning Cranesbill, is the third geranium in this annual, small growth, round-palmate leaved species, sequence of plants. As the name suggests, unlike most other geraniums, the plant lacks almost any hair, and the leaves as well as stems are bright and shiny. This is its very distinctive feature (besides the small and simple pink flowers), that makes it easy to identify, despite the size similarity to Geranium molle. The bright pink flowers are smaller but very similar to those of Geranium purpureum. It seems to prefer moist soil and higher elevations (up to 1400 m).
It makes a beautiful sight especially in the beginning of summer when the mature plant frequently turns yellow-reddish.

  Το Geranium lucidum είναι το τρίτο μονοετές είδος με μικρή ανάπτυξη και στρογγυλά-παλαμοειδή φύλλα, στη σειρά αυτή φυτών. Όπως μαρτυρεί το όνομά του "lucidum", σε αντίθεση με τα περισσότερα είδη γεράνειων, δεν είναι χνουδωτό φυτό, και τα φύλλα του καθώς και οι  βλαστοί του είναι φωτεινοί και γυαλιστεροί. Έτσι, παρόλο που σε μέγεθος είναι μικροσκοπικό όπως το Geranium molle, η αναγνώρισή του είναι πολύ απλή. Παρότι μικρότερα, τα έντονα ροζ λουλούδια του μοιάζουν πολύ με του Geranium purpureum. Φαίνεται να προτιμάει τα υγρά κλίματα και εδάφη, και απαντάται σε σχετικά μεγαλύτερο υψόμετρο (μέχρι τα 1400μ).
Είναι πολύ ξεχωριστό το θέαμα του, ιδιαίτερα στις αρχές καλοκαιριού όπου συχνά το ώριμο φυτό αποκτά κίτρινες και ρόδινες αποχρώσεις.
