Gentiana verna

  Spring gentian, Gentiana verna, is a perennial species of snow-bed meadows, native to most of Europe and Turkey, that bears beautiful solitary striking-blue flowers on very short stems. These flowers are often thought of as an archetype for the "blue flower" and are depicted in art and jewelry. The small dark green leaves are born in rosettes, often forming small tufts.

  Η Gentiana verna είναι ένα πολυετές φυτό των χιονοσκέπαστων λιβαδιών της Ευρώπης και της Τουρκίας, το οποίο παράγει πανέμορφα μονήρη κυανά άνθη πάνω σε κοντούς μίσχους. Τα λουλούδια αυτά συχνά αποτελούν τον ορισμό του "μπλε λουλουδιού" και απεικονίζονται στην τέχνη και την κοσμηματοποιία. Τα μικρά σκουροπράσινα φύλλα της σχηματίζουν μικρές τούφες με τους ρόδακές τους.

  Veronica thessalica is a rare perennial alpine veronica species of Greece, Albania and Serbia. The small flowers are of a dark blue color arranged in clusters. When not in bloom, one can easily distinguish her creeping stems with the glabrous leaves. V. thessalica is one of the 43 known veronica species that can be found in Greece.

  Η Veronica thessalica είναι ένα σπάνιο πολυετές είδος βερόνικας, ενδημικής της Ελλάδας, Αλβανίας και Σερβίας. Τα μικρά μπλε σκούρα άνθη της είναι διατεταγμένα σε συνπλέγματα. Εκτός περιόδου ανθοφορίας της, είναι εύκολα αναγνωρίσιμη από τους έρποντες βλαστούς και τα γυαλιστερά της φύλλα. Η V. thessalica είναι ένα από τα 43 γνωστά είδη βερόνικας που απαντώνται στην Ελλάδα.

  Myosotis suaveolens, also known as M. armata or M. sylvatica ssp. suaveolens, is a fairly small "forget-me-not" species, native to Greece, Albania, Bulgaria and Croatia, that occurs in snow-bed meadows at high altitudes. The flowers are typical of this genus, with variations of blue, pink and white colors.
Of the approximately 50 species of the genus Myosotis (a Greek compound word meaning "mouse's ear" after the leaf shape), one can find at least 16 species in Greece.

  Η Myosotis suaveolens, γνωστή επίσης και ως M. armata ή M. sylvatica ssp. suaveolens, είναι ένα πολύ μικρό είδος "μη-με-λησμόνει", ενδημικό της Ελλάδας, Αλβανίας, Βουλγαρίας και Κροατίας, το οποίο φυτρώνει σε χιονοσκέπαστα κυρίως λιβάδια, σε μεγάλα υψόμετρα. Τα λουλούδια είναι τυπικά του γένους, με μπλε, ρόδινες και λευκές αποχρώσεις.
Από τα 50 περίπου είδη του γένους Myosotis (που σημαίνει "του ποντικού το αυτί" από το σχήμα που έχουν τα φύλλα), τουλάχιστον 16 απαντώνται στην Ελλάδα

Echinops ritro

  Echinops ritro is an amazing perennial globe thistle, with branched stems and awesome blue flower heads that can be mistaken for Echinops microcephalus. The species, that seems to be quite variable, is native to southeastern Europe and western Asia. In Greece the leaves are usually thin, deeply lobed, dark shiny green, and woolly white underneath. The stems are white, too.

  Ο Echinops ritro είναι ένα ακόμη εντυπωσιακό πολυετές κεφαλάγκαθο, με διακλαδισμένους ανθοφόρους βλαστούς και ζωηρά μπλε κεφάλια λουλουδιών που μοιάζουν με του Echinops microcephalus. Το είδος αυτό παρουσιάζει ιδιαίτερη ποικιλομορφία, και είναι ενδημικό της νοτιοανατολικής Ευρώπης και της Δυτικής Ασίας. Στην Ελλάδα τα φύλλα είναι συνήθως λεπτά, βαθειά διαχωρισμένα, γυαλιστερά πράσινα, και λευκά χνουδωτά από κάτω. Λευκοί είναι και οι ανθοφόροι βλαστοί.

Cardopatum corymbosum

  Cardopatum corymbosum is another perennial thistle-like plant that grows on the coastline of Italy, Greece and countries of the East Mediterranean. A very attractive species, this blue thistle is noticed when in bloom, June through July, with its corymbose inflorescence covered with deep blue, almost fluorescent  flowers -- from very close they look like blue sea anemones.

  Το Cardopatum corymbosum είναι ένα ακόμη πολυετές είδος αγκαθιού το οποίο φυτρώνει κατά μήκος των ακτογραμμών της Ιταλίας, της Ελλάδας και των χωρών της Ανατολικής Μεσογείου. Πρόκειται για ένα πολύ εντυπωσιακό φυτό ειδικά την περίοδο της ανθοφορίας του, Ιούνιο και Ιούλιο, με το πυκνό σύμπλεγμα των έντονων φωτεινών μπλε λουλουδιών που από πολύ κοντά μοιάζουν με θαλάσσιες ανεμώνες.
