Verbascum delphicum

Verbascum delphicum.

  This is another mullein species with a Greek name, Verbascum delphicum (from Delphi), endemic to Greece, where it is considered rare. This very beautiful species grows up to 2.0m high and is symmetrically multi-branched. The specimen in the photos were encountered on the island of Delos guarding the archaeological site.

Verbascum pulverulentum (native to C. and S. Europe, but rare in Greece, restricted to far nrth), is a closely related species with a similar structure.

  Το Verbascum delphicum είναι ένα ακόμη είδος βερμπάσκου με ελληνικό όνομα (από τους Δελφούς), ενδημικό της Ελλάδας το οποίο θεωρείται σπάνιο. Πρόκειται για ένα πολύ όμορφο είδος που φτάνει τα 2,0μ ύψος και είναι συμμετρικά διακλαδισμένο. Τα φυτά στις φωτογραφίες στέκονται σα φρουροί στον αρχαιολογικό χώρο της Δήλου.

Το  Verbascum pulverulentum (ενδημικό της κεντρικής και νότιας Ευρώπης, και σπάνιο είδος στην Ελλάδα, περιορισμένο στα πολύ βόρεια), είναι ένα συγγενές είδος με παρόμοιο σκελετό.

  Great Mullein, Verbascum thapsus, is a large biennial species of mullein that is very widespread in Europe but only rare in Greece, restricted to the very northern parts of the country. The plant forms a large leaf rosette on the first year, and produces a tall stem (up to over 2.0m high) on the second, that is usually unbranched and densely covered with yellow flowers.   Το Verbascum thapsus είναι ένα μεγάλο είδος βερμπάσκου, το οποίο παρότι είναι ευρέως διαδεδομένομ σε ολόκληρη την Ευρώπη, στην Ελλάδα θεωρείται σπάνιο είδος περιορισμένο σε λίγες περιοχές στα βόρεια. Το φυτό σχηματίζει μεγάλους ρόδακες φύλλων τον πρώτο χρόνο, ενώ παράγει ψηλούς βλαστούς (έως πάνω από 2,0 μ ύψος) τον δεύτερο, συνήθως μη-διακλαδισμένους και πυκνά καλυμμένους με κίτρινα λουλούδια. Τα ρωμαλέα δείγματα στις φωτογραφίες έχουν πολύ μεγάλα φύλλα, σχεδόν 0,50μ μήκος, όμως οι βλαστοί τους παράγουν και αρκετούς δευτερεύοντες βλαστούς (...)

Verbascum graecum

  Verbascum graecum is one of the most awesome species of mullein, native to Greece, Albania, the former Yugoslavia and E. Turkey (unlike the other two species with Greek names -V. creticum and V. olympicum- that are not found in Greece). The large thick, simple or occasionally wavy leaves, are felty and remarkably greyish-white, forming the most divine porcelain-like leaf rosettes. The inflorescence is branched (up to 1.5m high), with yellow flowers that have white filament hairs.

  Το Verbascum graecum είναι ένα από τα πιο εντυπωσιακά είδη βερμπάσκου, ενδημικό της Ελλάδας, της Αλβανίας, της πρώην Γιουγκοσλαβίας και της Δ. Τουρκίας (σε αντίθεση με τα άλλα δύο είδη που φέρουν ελληνικά ονόματα αλλά δεν απαντώνται στην Ελλάδα - V. creticum και V. olympicum). Τα μεγάλα παχιά, απλά ή ενίοτε κυματιστά φύλλα, είναι χνουδωτά και σχεδόν λευκά, σχηματίζοντας τους πιο θεικούς πορσελάνινους ρόδακες. Η ταξιανθία (μέχρι 1,5μ ύψος) είναι διακλαδισμένη, με κίτρινα λουλούδια που έχουν στήμονες με λευκά τριχίδια.
