    Polygonum arenastrum, also known as Oval-leaf, Common or Prostrate Knotgrass, is an annual plant native to Europe and today found around the world. This very common plant has many equally sized, oval leaves and tiny inconspicuous white flowers that remain open for a very short period of time, flowering from mid summer to fall. It is both a plant of wastelands and an urban plant, often found growing in compacted soils such as walkways in parks and archaeological sites, and tolerating human stomping. The thin spreading stems form dense dark green mats on the ground.

Polygonum arenastrum is very closely related to Polygonum aviculare, which has slightly narrower and more pointed leaves. The two species are so similar that many botanists regard Common Knotweed as a single polymorphic species.

Also closely related is Polygonum patulum.

  Το Polygonum arenastrum είναι ένα μονοετές φυτό της Ευρώπης, που σήμερα απαντάται σχεδόν σε όλες τις ηπείρους. Αυτό το πολύ συνηθισμένο φυτό έχει ισομεγέθη οβάλ φύλλα και μικροσκοπικά, σχεδόν αφανή, λευκά άνθη τα οποία παραμένουν ανοικτά για μικρό διάστημα μέσα στη μέρα, και ανθίζουν από τα μέσα καλοκαιριού μέχρι το φθινόπωρο. Πρόκειται για φυτό τόσο των άγονων εδαφών όσο και της πόλης, το οποίο συχνά φυτρώνει σε συμπιεσμένα εδάφη όπως τα μονοπάτια σε πάρκα και αρχαιλογικούς χώρους, και επιβιώνει από το ποδοπάτημα των ανθρώπων. Οι λεπτοί οριζόντιοι βλαστοί σχηματίζουν πυκνές σκουροπράσινες στρώσεις στο έδαφος.

Το πολύ συγγενές Polygonum aviculare έχει ελάχιστα στενότερα και μυτερά φύλλα. Τα δύο αυτά είδη παρουσιάζουν τόσο μεγάλη ομοιότητα, που αρκετοί βοτανολόγοι θεωρούν πως πρόκειται για ένα και μοναδικό πολυμορφικό είδος.

Πολύ συγγενές είδος είναι επίσης το Polygonum patulum.

  Symphyotrichum squamatum, also known as Aster squamatus or Conyza squamata, is an annual or biennial plant of South America and the Mediterranean region, that has been introduced in many other places. It has also been introduced into Greece, where today it is as common and widespread as Conyza bonariensis, Conyza canadensis and Conyza sumatrensis, oftentimes found growing together and occasionally confused as one of them. Symphyotrichum squamatum is an erect tall plant with hairless stems and leaves, and with densely branched inflorescences that produce a multitude of tiny white flowers in autumn. It occurs in wastelands as well as in river banks, salt marshes and in the city. The dark green stems turn brownish-red when the plant matures.
Erigeron acer is one of the closely related species, along with genus Conyza, although much smaller and hairy.

  Το Symphyotrichum squamatum, το οποίο είναι γνωστό και ως Aster squamatus ή Conyza squamata, είναι ένα ετήσιο ή και διετές φυτό της Λατινικής Αμερικής και της Μεσογείου, που έχει εισαχθεί και εγκατασταθεί σε πολλά άλλα μέρη. Στην Ελλάδα επίσης, αυτό το είδος έχει εισαχθεί, και σήμερα είναι τόσο κοινό και διαδεδομένο όσο η Conyza bonariensis, η Conyza canadensis και η Conyza sumatrensis, με τα οποία συχνά συμφύεται και ενίοτε συγχέεται. Το άτριχο αυτό φυτό είναι ψηλό με όρθιους βλαστούς, και με πυκνά διακλαδισμένες ταξιανθίες, οι οποίες παράγουν πληθώρα μικροσκοπικών λευκών ανθέων μέσα στο φθινόπωρο. Το Symphyotrichum squamatum απαντάται τόσο σε χέρσα εδάφη όσο και σε όχθες ποταμών, αλυκές και μέσα στην πόλη. Όταν το φυτό ωριμάσει, οι σκουροπράσινοι βλαστοί αποκτούν κόκκινο-καφετί χρώμα.
Το Erigeron acer είναι ένα από τα συγγενή φυτά, μαζί με το γένος Conyza, παρότι πολύ μικρότερο και τριχωτό φυτό.

Veronica hederifolia

   Veronica hederifolia, also known as Ivy-leaf Speedwell, is yet another common spreading annual veronica of the Mediterranean. It is a common species that is very similar to Veronica cymbalaria. The two are often found growing together. Just to know, there are a few similar but quite smaller veronica species like V. agrestis, V. arvensis and V. acinifolia.

  Η  Veronica hederifolia είναι μια ακόμη έρπουσα μονοετής βερόνικα της Μεσογείου. Είναι ένα συνηθισμένο φυτό, που έχει μεγάλη ομοιότητα με την Veronica cymbalaria. Τα δύο αυτά είδη συχνά βρίσκονται να φυτρώνουν μαζί. Υπάρχουν και μερικά άλλα σχετικά όμοια είδη βερόνικας, τα οποία όμως είναι αρκετά μικρότερα, όπως οι V. agrestis, V. arvensis και V. acinifolia.
