This is a beautiful evergreen fairy fern! Asplenium trichomanes (also known as "maidenhair spleenwort"), is a very elegant small fern in the large Asplenium genus, that owes its name to the old belief that these ferns were useful for ailments of the spleen, due to the spleen-shaped sori on the backs of the fronds. It is a widespread and common species, occurring almost worldwide in a variety of rocky habitats. It is a variable fern with several subspecies.

Αυτή είναι μια υπέροχη αειθαλής νεραιδόφτερη! Το είδος Asplenium trichomanes, είναι μία μικρή φτέρη-κόσμημα μέσα στο τεράστιο γένος Asplenium, το οποίο οφείλει το όνομά του στην παλιά δοξασία που ήθελε αυτές τις φτέρες να γιατρεύουν τον σπλήνα, βασισμένη στην ομοιότητα των αποθηκών σπορίων στο πίσω μέρος των φύλλων με το σχήμα της σπλήνας. Πρόκειται για μια διαδεδομένη και αρκετά συνηθισμένη φτέρη, που απαντάται σχεδόν παγκοσμίως, με αρκετές μορφολογικές παραλλαγές, τοπικά, και υποείδη.
